In Nigeria, the report revealed that there were 391 verified cases of grave violations against 306 children. It noted that West/Central Africa was the region with the second-highest number of verified violations since 2005 with more than 67,000 verified grave violations, accounting for a quarter of all violations globally.
The report found that grave violations against children were committed by states and non-state actors and underscored the importance of engagement with all parties to conflicts, to meaningfully end and prevent violations against children. It also revealed that more than 7,600 children have been killed or maimed in situations of armed conflict at least 4,800 children abducted by parties to conflicts while more than 8,000 children raped, forcibly married, sexually exploited, and suffered other gave forms of sexual violence.
